My family and I went to Animal Adventures in Bolton this weekend, lured in by a Groupon deal. I have to say that this was one of the oddest attractions we've ever visited. On the plus side: there were animal to see and some of them were quite impressive. They do have a good assortment of reptiles (especially crocodilians) that you won't see in one place. I loved the eurasian eagle owl, nile croc and reticulated python but there were way more than that to see. On the minus side: most of the animals were kept in utterly depressing habitats, in a run-down family home converted into a "zoo". Also noteworthy were the bible posters spouting claims that the earth is only 4000 years old, that evolution, the big bang and plate tectonics are merely a myth with zero evidence et cetera. If they want to believe that then whatever but this sort of uneducated in-your-face "the earth is flat" claptrap is enough to keep me away.

My boyfriend and I went there on a random whim, driving all the way from CT, to experience the 3 hour behind the scenes tour. It WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! We held owls+skunks+snakes+gators of varying sizes. We pet and interacted directly with a kangaroo, a Lynx, and random exotic animals (mammals/parrots/reptiles) in such a gentle, unique, hands-on way! This is as close and well informed as you will ever get to the animal kingdom without being Mogli from The Jungle Book. The staff is informative, patient and love their job. The owner is a brilliant man who genuinely loves his animal friends. You will see species you will never see anywhere else, up close and personal. Only downside is the place is hard to find. It is very worth the search though. Bring little ones/loved ones/friends and enjoy the unique that is this place!

Great take for the entire family (brought our 2 year old grandson and Mom and 14 year old grandson and we ALL enjoyed it). The exotic array of animals is one you will most likely never see in your llfe - certainly not all in one place. Plenty of "guides" to help explain the particulars about each critter. REALLY really great place to provide up close and hands-on experience. Groupon offered half/off coupon...would have been worth it even wthout it!

We used a Groupon to visit and thoroughly enjoyed the place! The staff was very friendly and informative. They had a wide variety of animals and offered many opportunities to experience safe and supervised "hands-on" experience with select animals. Our 10 and 12 year old enjoyed it all, although there were kids there of all ages. The place may lack a little "polish" in terms of facilities, but they offer a great time for the kids i terms of entertainment and education. We are quite happy that we went and would recommend this place to anyone.

In search of something to do with my Granddaughter on a Sunday as we do every week,I stumbled across a Groupon for Animal Adventures in Bolton.I visited the website and it seemed interesting as we are always looking for zoos and such.We arrived early so we would have time to go somewhere else after, well,we were blown away, not by the size or the elegance, but by the workers and there committed relationship with all the animals and people who come to visit. We experienced a most remember-able interactive experience which can only be enjoyed at other large zoos and parks if you buy an extra pass usually costing fifty or some dollars. The live animal show we found so enjoyable we had to stay for the second one in the afternoon. All the people we came in contact with were very friendly and helpful bringing out animals by request to touch and talk about. You really know it when people love their job.

My husband, son & myself did the extreme adventure tour. Worth every dollar spend. We have swam with dolphins in FL & Sea lions at Niagara, NY. We have done elephant, camel & several other encounters (I don't want to list them all.) This was by far, one of the best. Calvin was our tour guide, he was informative, friendly & patient, he def. was not 16 years old (as one of the post below suggests.) I am referring to a post I read, 3 posts down. I have been a member of PETA for 13+ years & in my opinion these animals are show a lot of love & attention. I have been to over 14 different zoo's in different states. Yes, some have more space, that is a matter of money, but I have never seen animals that take to the care givers like this facility. They trust the animals & the animals trust them, they spend time with them & know the animals well. That is clear to see. Maybe the misconception is that they are an "Animal Rescue" not a "Zoo" a zoo is a profit organization. I also noticed the large amount of alligators, but, I asked our tour guide about it & he was happy to explain. The pets stores had a contract with FL, as it was legal to purchase an alligator. Many people were buying alligators & later realizing they did not want to care for them. They would try to return them to the pet store but were unable to. That is where an animal rescue comes into play. Better then the alternative if you ask me. They have more calls for alligators & snakes then any other animal. I guess the lesson there is, don't buy them as pets if you don't intend to take care of them. Just my opinion. In nature alligators can often be found in large numbers close to each other. The larger males like to be off by themselves. When we visited the alligators were grouped together willingly in the water & one bigger alligator was out of the water & alone. They had more then enough room to accommodate the needs :-) I noticed the kangaroo was mentioned in a post also, the kangaroos were very relaxed. They did not feel threatened & were not scared at all. Most zoo's you see kangaroo's standing on two legs, that means are feel threatened, when they are laying down & calm, it means they are content. I was very surprised at how relaxed each animal was. We learned that from our tour guide, Calvin. If you are going to visit, it is def. worth paying the extra money for the extreme adventure tour. Learn a little about the animals, this is not a zoo, don't treat it as one. If you do want to walk around & look at pretty animals, kept in nice cages that are tossed food once a day & not shown any attention visit a zoo. This is a more personal experience & def. worth the visit. One more thing... during our visit I noticed a frog that looked like he had gotten into a fight with another frog, I pointed it out to our tour guide, he immediately picked up the frog & attended the issue.

Great place to go. It is also an Animal Rescue and several animals may be dropped off on any day. The staff is very knowledgeable, and they made the facility bigger since last time. They offer interactive tours where you can touch and play with various animals. When you enter the building to the right they have information side by side information about evolution and creationism

Found a groupon for this place, glad I did, what a great little find. My kids, ages 8 & 11 loved it. Big variety of animals, very friendly and knowledgeable staff as well. With or without a discount coupon I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something to do for a couple, maybe on a rainy day. This place also takes their animals on tour to local schools and libraries and such, we have seen them before and really enjoyed their presentations.

The place has extremely exotic and surprise interesting animals in tiny cages being taken care of by 16 year olds. It was so unorganized and honestly depressing to see a kangaroo in a 6 ft by 8 ft cement jail. I am not one of those crazy animal activists I just thought it was sad to see literally 12 alligators in one small tank.

I took my 5 year old and my 13 year old here and we all had a blast. The tour guide was fun and informative, they had more animals then I anticipated, and they seemed to care about the animals. I would go there anytime and enjoy, even in the freezing cold it was fun. Take your family well worth it and it wont kill your bank account.

A very fun and interesting time learning about unique animals in our amazing world. They have many camps and also group presentations led by Ed who is the owner of the animals.

The Extreme Adventure Tour at Animal Adventure was everything it promised to be. Very hands on with the animals and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and patient. Even though the tour was supposed to be 2 hours and we were one of the last tours, our guide was so thorough and wanted us to see everything it ended up lasting almost 3 hours. It was worth every dollar spent and I would suggest this tour for all ages and especially couples who love animals. Would absolutely go again! Thank you Animal Adventures!

We got to spend a few hours on a private tour with Calvin at Animal Adventures for my wife's birthday. It was great to be there before the center opened to the public, as we got an up-close look at many of the animals living there. At the end of our tour, we had the opportunity to interact with a pair of young wallabies while they hopped around outside of their enclosure. Calvin did a great job of introducing us to many animals that I never thought I'd have the chance to touch and see up close, including a kangaroo, porcupine, coati, and alligator! I would highly recommend the Extreme Adventure tour for anyone interested in interacting with animals on a closer level than you ever could at a big zoo. It was a great surprise to find such a unique place in rural Massachusetts.

It's fairly small, mostly reptiles and took about an hour to walk around. They do however have some interesting animals and some petting which was fun. It kinda smells, but hey it's a zoo (kinda) so you get used to it. They have hand sanitizer available. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They have a few different tours. I took the regular small group (Living Social) and it still felt very personal and comfortable. All animals looked clean and well cared for. The have snakes, lizards, spiders, turtles, gators, a kangaroo, a fat woodchuck, bunnies, chinchillas, birds, a pig, small monkeys, skunks and more.. Overall, it's a fun place to visit especially with kids.

Based upon the reviews here, I decided that this might be a great place to visit while we were nearby in Medfield. We had three adults, two teens, and two tweens. When we drove up, I was wondering if it was a mistake! It doesn't look like much from the outside - AT ALL. But once we were inside and they had taken us to the first room, everyone realized what a great place it is. With no reservation, they took us on the tour on the spot. As other reviewers have mentioned, you get real 'up close and personal' with the animals - which was an amazing experience that even the teen boys ended up appreciating. The Kukaburra gave us a great show, and even the Canadian Lynx and red foxes came out to see us. They have a good variety of animals - from North American standards like the woodchuck, porcupine, and skunk that you (fortunately) don't get to see up close in the wild, to exotics like Nile crocs, a Marmoset monkey, lemurs, civet, and Wallaby babies. The BEST thing about this place is that you get to touch a number of the animals - which is really what makes this place special. We got to touch a chinchilla, hedgehog, wallaby, ferret, skunk, alligator, tortoise, and a variety of snakes. You can get very close to many of the enclosures, which gave us a better view of the animals that I have had at any zoo. Our guide was great and you could tell she was knowledgeable about the animals and that she truly cared about their welfare. This visit won't take up a full afternoon, but it's worth the detour if you are in the area.
