Barceló Lakes Golf Course is relatively short but very challenging due to the water and sand traps throughout the course. When the generally constant strong breezes, the holes become very challenging. Course is in very good condition. Greens, well groomed, but very difficult to read. Golf cart fees are pricey.
Course in great shape, challenging for all levels of play perhaps with the exception of a scratch player. A little busy but no problem getting around in a foursome in 4 hours and 15 minutes.
Green fees are included (one per day per person) at the on-site golf course. You can call for a personal shuttle to the course when you are ready to play. Tee times are needed as the course is somewhat busy. The course is very well kept with good greens and fairways. They charge for golf carts, but if you stay at the Barcelo resort, a coupon book will save you almost half of the cart fees.
Great course, convenient to the resort. Excellent putt, chip and range facilities. Bar/restaurant decor are exceptional for an AI resort. Staff were good as well. Course itself is well maintained, but really challenging, I've played here 4 times and never come close to my handicap. Enjoyed every round though.
Liked the tasty freshly prepared food, pub fare and atmosphere. Staff a bit snobby we felt, service so and so.
We have stayed at the bav 6 times 3 before the big renovation 3 after, if you like to play golf this is a great location normal tees if you are 18+ hcap back tees if you want to really test your golf, for Caribbean golf it is not to expensive if you buy a package, but if you value your pro v1s chose your holes carefully as the course eats golf balls, the practice facility's are really good and the golf team treat you like an old friend after a few games, the course is always in good condition, will I be back next year definitely
It's a nice course but wouldn't play it for a whole weekDesign 8 out a 10Maintenance 9 out of 10Would play there again
My wife and I have played this course a lot - and always enjoy it. The course is always in good condition and can be very challenging. Tip - if you play from the tips - consider moving up one tee block on 17 and 18. You will save yourselves a few balls and several strokes, ( unless you pipe-line it 270 down the middle). My wife usually plays the reds, (occasionally the white tees), and frequently scores better there then at home. She loves this course! And, I must confess, I have a fondness for it as well. I have seen a lot of changes to this course, and would have to say the P B Dye did a great job redesigning it. The only negative is the price for the golf cart!
the lakes golf course was in great shape and had a nice lay out.the greens were well kept and the fairways plush.my only gripe was no water in the ball washers and no towels either.we did experience a problem with the language problem the ranger and starter did not understand us..
This is the place to golf. Wonderful golf course, the people were so nice and made you feel right at home. We golfed here twice, and will definitely come back. Very impressive. I am a beginner golfer and my boyfriend has been golfing all his life and it was great for both of us. Highly recommend
I would recomend. Great fairways and greens. reasonable prices too. Great for the average player with nice par 3's and challanging par 5's
The first and definitely best course we played. A good layout and lots of variety on the holes. Everything well maintained and greens in good condition. Like the ladies tees we'll in front of the men's, I don't get that must advantage at home. We paid twilight rates to keep the cost down but golf is expensive in Dominican Republic- still nice to be able to say we have played there. Course was empty when we played, apart from the flamingoes on the lake, reduce the prices and more people would play!
Just played the Lakes course it is in really good condition and fun to play of the gold tees.Just don't understand their pricing as it cost my wife 45 dollars to ride passenger in my buggy which is just ludicrous, it cost 170 dollars for green fee, club hire and rider and we saw 2 other golfers all round .If they drop the prices the golf course would be full and everybody would be happy.
The clubhouse is fantastic, and the pro shop adequately stocked although at $25 for a glove and $35 for a Nike golf cap I'm glad I brought my own, at $430 for 2 people for 18 holes is very expensive, I played from the black (back comp) tees and it was quite testing, a final score of 82 represented a good day on the course, my wife played from the reds which were quite a way forward which suited her and any par 3's that had all water carry had the ladies tee only 100yards or so which made life a bit easier, the greens on the front 9 seemed to have a little more grass on and rolled a bit better, the back 9 were covered in sand/feed and weren't as good, the only hole that caught me out a little was the 17th tee, from the 16th hole turn to the right and follow the path for 60 yards or so and the black tee is on your left and you have to hit over a tree plantation with about 220 yards carry with the green over and to the right, you then go back past the 16th green to find all the other tees, the 18th black tee is about 235 yard carry over water to a trick green. The course was nice but I won't complain about a £110 course back in the uk as I know it will be so much better than this one.
Excellent course, relatively level and a few trick holes. Day we played the greens were sandy and therefore made putting difficult; not very helpful club house staff though you do get complimentary drinks on the 10th. Golf balls expensive. Call directly and might get a better deal than going via agent.
