I grew up going to the ledges. If you like the outdoors this is a very neat place that will challenge you some. If your in to cliff climbing this is the place perfect for just leading how to climb also. Always a good time when I'm at the ledges.

Rating for Nelsons Ledge's Quarry Park not the state park. Nelson's Ledges Quarry Park is the ideal destination for anyone that is a beatnik, adventurer, and rambler at heart. Quarry Park is located right next to the State Park. Take a breath and go cliff diving, jam out to some Grateful Dead tribute bands at a festival, or go fishing at their two fishing ponds.I cannot say enough good things about the park. It has guided me as a friend. I have a deep spiritual connection with that place and the experiences that it has blessed me with. At the Quarry's festivals you meet the most interesting people. Meeting these people and sharing your stories as they share theirs with you is very introspective and makes you feel human at your very core.

I've been here before and will be back again for sure. Its not even a bad place to be on one of the hotter days as you can walk down in the crevices where it is bone chilling cold. Even the red trail which is marked as hard is not too hard for an average fit person. Fun for the older teenage kids as well. Not for the small ones though. Need to keep a firm hold on them as there are many ledges to fall off of and get hurt. We found three waterfalls, one you could only hear. Simply beautiful day out.

This was a great hike! You can make it as difficult or easy as you want. The trails are not well marked. So get familiar with the map before you go. That way you know the harder trails vs. the easier trails along outer edge and rim. Some people mentioned hippies and trash. Yes, we saw that and some graffiti. Which is unfortunate. However it didn't detract from our trip. I wouldn't recommend for families with younger children. There are many ares that require hopping over gaps in ledges with steep drops.

We've always taken our visitors to Nelson Ledges for a nice Sunday afternoon hike. There are amazing rock formations and the trails accommodate most ages. Fat Man Squeeze is always a highlight as well as the Devil's Ice Box.

My experience here was decades ago. My family was "treated" to a day here when I was eight. Had a really good time until I approached a rock divide and was terrified to jump over. No one lost patience with me and realizing I did not want to be left behind, I gathered all my courage and made it across. It was all of 18 inches wide!I'm reading the reviews as Nelson Ledges (as it was then known) came to mind and we were hoping to make a day of it. After reading what has become of this once beautiful place I'll forget ever going again. It was clean, unspoiled, beautiful when I went and that's the way I'll remember it.

Overall, this place is beautiful and fun to explore but be careful! It's fun to walk on the rock formations and to explore the caves. We found a tiny waterfall under one of the rocks and we were in awe. Definitely worth a trip to explore for an hour or two!

Beautiful geologic formation to explore. Great place to run, but plan on getting filthy going it. A couple of the smaller caves are boulders setting on boulders. Don't slide in expecting to come out the other side. Deep pit crevices would be hard to get out without ropes.

On a vacation in Ohio, my family who usually prefers indoor attractions, did not know where to go, since we did most of the local attractions already. Wen found this park and decided to try hiking this time. And we had an amazing time!! There were about 4 different trails on different levels from mild, to the brave. We ended up doing all of them! Beautiful scenery, very private, gorgeous weather, We had a Great time! And it was free!!

A couple decades ago, I visited Nelson Ledges about once a year, either with friends, family, or scouts. After high school, I haven't been back till this year where I actually visited twice. This is a wonderful place to enjoy the beautiful rock formations close to home in northeastern Ohio. The downside - the first time this year I visited in early summer, it was just myself and my wife. We had a very nice time, but there were many people there drinking, and there was litter all over the place. Take into account, it is possible to fall 30 or more feet, so this is not a good place to be drinking. I actually saw one kid (guessing he was around 20 years old) run and jump a 6 foot gap. Luckily, he made it, but I was thinking to myself, "Here is one of the statistics I am seeing in person.".The second time I visited this summer was in September with several friends, and there were much fewer people at the park. Also, there was less litter, but still litter spread throughout the trails. Bottom line, we are lucky to have such a wonderful park near us, but it is unfortunate there are so many idiots who trash the park with litter. If visitors had respect and didn't litter, this place would have a 5 star rating. On a side note, the outhouses were in bad shape. I again blame the idiots with no respect for the place for trashing the outhouses too.

I find Nelson Ledges to be a beautiful park but then again I am not scared of hippies. When we were last there, there was a Park Ranger hiking the trails, lots of families with children, and yes, probably a few kids trying to find a secluded place to smoke up. Whatever. I think some of the complaints about garbage have to do with the park system trying to institute a pack-in/pack-out system where you take anything you bring into the park out with you and dispose of it there. Thus, there are no trash cans and people leave their bottles laying around. None of these minor issues detracts from the beautiful scenery with plenty of little spaces to explore. This is a place of adventures!

Nelson Ledges is a nice place to hike. It has a waterfall and many interesting rock formations. However, there is a ton of litter everywhere. It is disappointing that people feel it is okay to leave their trash all around. The restrooms are only permanent outhouses and are very disgusting. There is no running water so bring your own hand sanitizer.

We took the blue hike, was short but engaging. It's got steep cliffs and stuff so you gotta be careful if you have young ppl in the group. It's manageable though. The day we went there too many mosquitoes and got bitten badly. It rained heavily like 10 mins before we started to hike. Overall would recommend to go.

Beautiful and interesting landscape. The trails are short and easy hikes. We didn't notice the garbage another reviewer mentioned. Seemed pretty well kept up. Must have been bad timing.

This is a wonderful little state park with ample parking a good picnic aria and a very unusual rocky structure with paths. I would warn parents with small children they must keep an eye on them.
