I always wanted wondered what it would B like to visit a real "Ghost Town" Nelson Nevada, Eldorado Mine Tours. Well it was quite the experience, history and a great photo opportunity. I felt really back in time, a must see....There has been a few movies filmed here, U must check in with the owners once U arrive. Lots of professional photographers shoot at this location! I enjoyed my evening here...Keep driving down the hill to view the beautiful lake. Loved my day trip from Vegas to this location. Owners are really friendly. Thankfully we didnt see any creepy crawlers :)

What a great place, all kinds of old buildings and things outside. Inside the store all kinds of old things to look at. Lots of history. The mine tour is a must. Tour is about a hour and a half. Guide was wonderful, very knowledgeable about the history. Funny with some of the stories he told. Staff very friendly. We had a great time

We did the El Dorado Canyon and Gold Mine Trip. First we rode 4-wheelers for about 2 hours, then they provided a boxed lunch, then we took a tour through an old gold mine. It was fun, and the tour guide was very nice. If you're into a little adventure with the 4-wheeling, this was a fun tour.

Great tour guides and beautiful scenery make this a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Vegas. Lots of history in this area. Some films and videos were shot out there.

We went in September and there were a few other cars there but not many. We had called earlier to see if we could go on a mine tour but the line was bad and he couldnt really understand our Australian accents maybe. He told us to just turn up and if there was a tour going we could join in. We popped out and had a look around and loved it. So many great things to photograph out there. We did pop into the shop and there were several people in there eating food but we weren't sure if they were staff or guests - nobody said boo to us. We used the loo and just went on our merry way and kept looking around. We didnt go on the mine tour but were hesitant to any how as my nine year has a slight disability and can be a bit too loud for people to cope with - we are usually the family that other people look at and realize that their children are well behaved - lol. Great spot to stop and take photos. We also kept driving down the road and came to a dead end but got to the river which was nice to dip our feet. It is hard to believe that only an hour out of the strip and you can feel like the only people on earth.

My daughter Jessie and I had a great time horseback riding and then visiting the old mine. Everybody that guided us was great..Billy, Ed, Tony, Bobbie...they all made this a pleasantly memorable vacation time. I want to go back again soon because this is one of those places that you never see it all the first time. Very interesting and educational experience. Thanks for the great time,Dean CunkelmanWillow, AK

Do not miss this fantastic Mine Tour in the El Dorado Canyon. This is a chance to learn the history of this great area while experiencing the most gorgeous and dramatic views in the entire Las Vegas area. Just a 45 minute ride from the Strip and you are in the old west reliving the days of gold & silver miners. The owners have an eclectic collection of memorabilia and let you roam freely about their museum and grounds. The guided tour of the mine is a fascinating look into the pars and a great way to escape the heat. A must for history buffs and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the strip.

I went alone and joined the 9:30 AM mine tour along with about 12 other adults and children. It was amazing to learn of how people lived, mined for gold at $1.50 a day, ate food, and did this without electricity and modern day equipment - all steam powered equipment after a while, candles in the mine for lighting, mine shafts up 200 feet and some down 400 feet.About a one hour drive from downtown Las Vegas - and a totally diferent world - a wonderful world and experience. Owners and workers quite friendly and informative people.Old country store contents just amazing.Robert Harvey,Venice, Fl

We booked the tour through the Red Rock resort, so we had a package deal that included some kayaking on the Colorado river. Chad our guide made the entire trip quite fun as well as interesting. He has an entertaining personality and kept us laughing while he told us all about the surrounding area. Its easy to tell he loves adventure so he was a perfect fit for our family with 2 older teens. The mine itself was small yet facinating, so those who may fear going deep underground should not worry. There is plenty to see & learn and they do a great job of making the history come alive. There is also a ghost town built up around the mine so plan on spending time seeing the sights.

The tour I the mine was informative and an experience that cannot be duplicated!Jimmy our guide had a sense of humour and educated us on the process to extract Gold and on what it would have been like back in the day when this mine was operating. There are antiques everywhere to look at and you could spend hours walking around and looking at all there is to see.Well worth the admission price! Suitable for all ages from te very young to the very old!Highly recommend this tour!

We spent a nice day in this great place driving with atvs, exploring the mines, shooting bows and finding treasures in a scavenger hunt. And the day ended to a really nice outdoor bbq dinner. The guides were great and made this a real experience. Special thanks goes to Red aka Der der ;)

Just 45 minutes from our hotel on the Strip, this gold mine tour was much better than I expected. Cost only $12.50 per adult and lasted about an hour and 15 minutes. Billy, our tour guide, did an exceptional job telling us the history and explaining how the mine worked back in its hey day. Well worth the trip if you're in Vegas.

We booked a horse riding adventure on the internet for use when we visited Las Vegas. We were extremely fortunate that it was at this location! We arrived at 9:00 AM, wondering if we had made a wrong turn...The site was actually an old mine site that had been abandoned years before. We made our way into the store and we were greeted by a large, bearded fellow who was to be our guide that day. Billy was his name and a great guide and a wealth of information he was! We signed the prerequisite forms and headed to the corral down the road where we met our horses. Our horses, a paint and a white mustang were well behaved and most obliging. Our 2 hour tour of the Eldorado Valley and the surrounding area was very interesting and we were amazed by the wealth of knowledge, and the patience, shown by our guide. Beautiful flowering cacti, yellow flowering shrubs and numerous lizards scurrying everywhere were the order of the day. Luckily we didn't see any of the Mojave green rattlesnakes that we were warned about. The time went quickly and we soon found ourselves back at the 'store' after putting our horses back in the corral.A box lunch was then handed out, that was most enjoyable after a ride in the valley! Then it was time to wander about and enjoy the sights. After a few minutes I returned to the car and got my camera out. What an opportunity for an amateur photographer! Old cars! Older trucks! Old antiquated mining gear! Old freight wagons! A wrecked airplane crashed into a hill! Old buildings! You name it and you'll find it here! I spent more time taking pictures than I did riding! Then there is the Mine tour! As someone who's worked in the mining industry for 30 years, I was impressed at how hard the old miners worked to open these mines! The mine was opened in 1881 and the shaft is about 900 feet deep. That's not much by today's standards, but impressive for the time. I understand that at one time it was the largest producer of gold in Nevada! Our tour over we spent some time in the store. This is an adventure in itself! Stuffed animals. Books of photographs showing all sorts of different things. Rattlesnakes, injuries due to misadventures with cacti and all other sorts of things. Preserved remains of 'Aliens' were of interest to everyone! We were very fortunate thatt he owner, Tony, was in the store at the time of our visit. His plans for the future of this site is most impressive. He, and his Staff, take whatever time is necessary to ensure they answer all your questions and that your visit is most enjoyable. And the prices for souvenirs at the store are extremely reasonable. One item that we purchased was small tubes of actual gold for $4. Interesting in that we saw the same item at other places selling for $10. T shirts are similarly reasonably priced. All in all, this was the best investment of time and money that we made while in the Las Vegas area! And we didn't even do everything we could have! They have kayaking, river tours, ATV trail riding, horseback riding, mine tours and probably more by the time you read this! I'd recommend a visit here for anyone who enjoys history, outdoor fun or just getting away from the 'lights' of Vegas. And whatever you do..... don't forget your camera!
