A friend & I recently visited Zimmerman Vineyards and found this to be a great small winery.The tasting room is small and rustic but very comfortable. The tasting bar and stools are from black walnut that had fallen on the property. Although most of their wines are very dry, theydo have two that will satisfy the sweet wine lovers (Aegina). The view from the terrace overlooks the vines on the slope and the view is pretty, even in the dead of winter. This is onewinery I will be returning to.

My wife and I visited Zimmerman Vineyards on a recent trip to Asheboro. It was a quick, easy drive from town to a beautiful family-owned winery. As it was a colder day, an outdoor fire roared on a terrace overlooking one of the fields. Simply strolling around and taking in the view was relaxing. Inside the tasting building, we sampled 5 wines for $5, which included a souvenir glass; we bought 2. The tasting was very enjoyable and informative, and we enjoyed meeting Mrs. Zimmerman and asking her questions about the winery and the area. Family members were outside working, greeted us, and waved when we left. It was a very pleasant and delightful experience, and I would certainly return with friends or family. Check the website for hours: open weekends only. Expect to spend about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
